St Martin’s Website Governance Page – Revised September 2026

Welcome to the governance section of the website, we hope you find it useful and informative.

St Martin’s is a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School and a member of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT).

    DSAT Trust Board

The DSAT Trust Board has overall responsibility for governance and delegates certain responsibilities to each of its Academy Standards and Ethos Committees (ASECs) to provide focused local governance.  The arrangements for DSAT governance, including its Scheme of Delegation to ASECs, can be found here:

    http://www.dsat.org.uk/governance

St Martin’s Academy Standards and Ethos Committee (ASEC)

St Martin’s Academy Standards and Ethos Committee (ASEC) works for the Trust on behalf of the children’s parents and carers, and the local community, to develop and monitor:

    • The vision, ethos, and strategic direction of the school
    • The educational performance of the school

It does this by working closely with the Executive Headteacher and the Head of School who are responsible for the day to day running of the school.

The ASEC is made up of four Foundation or Trust Appointed Governors, and two Parent Governors.  Associate Members of the ASEC may also be appointed to support the development of special projects or aspects of the school.

The ASEC meets at least 6 times per year and between these meetings its governors visit school to monitor specific areas such as safeguarding, special educational needs and the school’s spiritual development.

For more details about our ASEC membership, roles and responsibilities please follow the links below.

If you have any questions about our governance, please get in touch via the school office or   email spireclerk@dsat.org.uk.  Thank you.
