Our vision vessel is a map, which reflects the wonderfully diverse journeys that our school community travel on.
Each child has found a place to belong at St Martin's school where they will be welcomed, supported, challenged and celebrated.
Whether they are here for a short stop on their journey or for seven full years, each child who comes through our door will leave our school with truly wonderful experiences to add to their own personal life map.
Wherever you go - be strong and courageous
Joshua 1:9
Joshua is a special figure at our school. His long journey and search for a home resonates throughout our community, no matter which religion they follow. Joshua's strength, bravery and unwavering faith in the promises he had been given inspire us to show the same, no matter where we go in life. The courage he showed, the aspirations he had for his life and faith community he built make him a perfect figure for our Biblical Underpinning.
We asked some members of our school community what this verse means to them:
"It felt very different and I felt pretty shy when I came to a new school. I have different classmates and friends now. I feel brave and strong at my new school. Delisha
"Being strong and courageous means never giving up. When I walked in I didn't know half of the class but I had to be brave." Sianna
"This means being brave in ourselves. Doing something kind and helping others is a way we can build our community." Ashwayne
"Wherever you go, be strong, never give up and be kind!" Hareem
Our school values, which underpin everything we do at St Martin's Primary:
Listen to St Martin's Worship Council talk about our school values:
I can do everything through Him who strengthens me
Philippians 4.13
No matter what we aspire to achieve, we know that God is on our team. He gives us strength to aim high, achieve our goals and live out our dreams.
At St Martin’s, we nurture high aspirations uniquely to each child and equip them with the knowledge, resilience and confidence to meet their full potential. We nurture not only to each individual’s highest academic attainment, but also support them to aspire more widely. Children at St Martin’s aspire to help others, to make their mark on the world and to achieve their goals.
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly
1 Peter 4:8–11
Through our value of community, we encourage our children to care for one another as God cares for us. The children of St Martin’s Primary School are from a widely diverse set of individual communities and, by valuing each child for their unique perspective, we build a strong collective, rooted in tolerance, respect and empathy. By prioritising this sense of togetherness, we enable all to flourish together.
I will show you my faith by my deeds
James 2:18
We are courageous advocates at St Martin’s Primary School – the children speak out for the things that are meaningful to them and use their bravery to teach others from their unique perspective. By instilling courage in the children we teach, we are enabling them to be resilient, capable learners who are ready to take risks and challenge themselves. We teach our children that courage also means being brave enough to be uniquely ourselves and to have the confidence to reach out to others when we need to.
