Prefects

Our Prefects play an important role in the day-to-day life of St Martin’s and act as positive role models for younger pupils. Prefects are Year 6 pupils who apply for the role and are selected for their commitment, responsibility and leadership.

Prefects are on duty during lunchtimes and collective worship, helping to promote positive behaviour by recognising children who make good choices. They award house points and encourage pupils to care for one another and our school environment.

Through their responsibilities, Prefects support the British Values of mutual respect, individual liberty and the rule of law. By modelling our expectations and helping others to follow agreed rules, they contribute to a safe, calm and positive school community.

Prefects also help to look after the school and welcome visitors by leading tours and speaking confidently about life at St Martin’s. These opportunities develop their communication skills and sense of responsibility.

Through their role, Prefects demonstrate Community by supporting others, Aspiration by setting high standards and Courage by taking responsibility and leading by example.
